Amman, Aug. 24 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and DHL Express, a freight forwarding company, on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on supporting startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

The MoU aims to support startups and small and SMEs in crossing borders, accessing new markets, and developing their commercial activities, especially in increasing e-commerce exports, according to a ministry statement issued Thursday.

The MoU, signed by Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh, and DHL Express Jordan General Manager, Khaled Selim, includes defining the selection criteria of start-ups and SMEs benefiting from the agreement, and providing competitive prices and discounts for companies in accordance with relevant legislation in force to motivate them to choose DHL for their cross-border shipments.

Hanandeh said that the MoU will provide support and training to startups and SMEs by DHL Express on best practices for exporting products, including regulatory compliance, customs requirements, and documents for eligible companies, and implementing joint marketing initiatives to enhance cross-border e-commerce benefits and encourage more startups and SMEs to export their products.

For his part, Salim said that the local product has proven its competitiveness in the e-commerce field, thanks to innovative and creative ideas in the Jordanian market.

He added that the MoU is part of DHL Express' global strategy, which seeks to open new markets for startups and SMEs, and to support any governmental and international initiatives that would help expand these companies' footprint, which DHL Express provides through its global network located in more than 220 locations and countries across the world.
